19th Annual Nevada Regional Science Bowl
On behalf of the National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office (NNSA/NSO), we are pleased to announce
that the 19th Annual Nevada Regional Science Bowl will take place January 29 and 30, 2010, at the Atomic
Testing Museum (ATM) and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus. High schools in Nevada, Arizona,
Southern California, and Southern Utah are invited to participate. (Schools further than 175 miles from Las Vegas
will be limited to 14 teams.)

Thirty-two teams from high schools in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah will compete in the Annual Nevada Regional
Science Bowl at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The winning team will travel to Washington D. C. to compete with
high schools across the country.
The U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl, which will be held April 29 - May 4, 2010 in Washington D.C.,
is a highly publicized academic competition among teams of high school students who are quizzed on scientific topics
in astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, general science, mathematics, and physics.
The objective of the Science Bowl is to promote and challenge the nation’s high school students to excel in math
and science. The competition consists of a round robin followed by a double elimination final. Questions are submitted
by scientists at all of Department of Energy's facilities as well as from other federal agencies and university
consortia. Each Science Bowl team is composed of four students, one alternate student, and a teacher who serves as an
advisor and coach. More than 100,000 students have competed in the Science Bowl since its establishment in 1991.
