Sensitive Plants
There
are numerous sensitive plants found on or adjacent to the NTS. All of
them are on the Nevada Natural Heritage Program (NNHP) Sensitive Plant
Taxa List, and many of them are considered species of concern by the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). No state or federally protected
plants are known to occur on the NTS. Over the last three decades, NNSA
has sponsored the collection of information on the status of sensitive
plants found on the NTS and produced numerous publications.
At least once every five years, known NTS populations of sensitive
plant species are surveyed and their status evaluated. Also, pre-activity
surveys are conducted prior to proposed projects or activities
to ensure that sensitive plant populations are not impacted.
Results of sensitive plant and pre-activity surveys conducted
during the calendar year can be found in the most currently published
